Chicken Scratch or Gingham Embroidery
Back to Homespun Shopping Pages
This wonderful project idea was submitted by Laurie Latour of Jacksonville, Florida. Laurie is an expert at this creative embroidery and she does some really beautiful work, some of which is shown here. Laurie says that this style of craft is often called Depression Lace among other things and is a very old technique. Any type of gingham design fabric can be used but Laurie really likes the primitive look and feel of the homespun fabrics especially in her embroidered aprons.
See some samples of Laurie's skill below and read more about Gingham Embroidery on her website. Laurie also has some really nice apron examples and pictures in her
Gingham Museum page.
