Garden Green Ragged Patchwork Tablecloth

Picture
This amazingly versatile ragged style tablecloth was created using the Garden Green homespun fabrics. The soft sage colors lend a neutral background to all your holiday decorating and works perfectly for everyday decor as well. See more pictures below.
This particular size is 66" x 94". It was created using blocks of fabric that were cut 8" square. The squares were stitched together 10 rows wide by 14 rows long. You can easily adjust the width or the length by adding or deleting rows. We used a double layer square and did not add batting between the layers. This makes a lighter weight product that can be used as a throw also. Doing this without batting between the layers will also allow you to complete the project much quicker which is always a bonus!
If you are using only homespun for this tablecloth project, it is not necessary to pre-wash the fabric before cutting and stitching. After piecing it all together, clip the exposed seam allowances according to the directions here: Clipping Seams for Rag Quilts. Then machine wash and dry it all to create all the fluffy ragged fray.
Of course, you would not be limited to the Garden Green fabrics for this tablecloth style. The patchwork design looks great in many different combinations of our homespun fabrics.

Updated:  This ragged primitive style tablecloth pictured below was created by Brenda and Martha Harris. They used the 6" pre-cut homespun charm packs and the finished product works great with their country style decor.  You can see that the same tablecloth design will look very different depending on the fabrics you choose!
